PhilosophyCenter | Overview
PhilosophyCenter | LifeStudy: Practicing Presence

PhilosophyCenter | Practicing PresencePracticing Presence introduces the student to the ancient principle of mindfulness as a way to access greater identity, fulfillment, peace, and sense of belonging and purpose. The main idea of this offering is that there is an expansive, joyful, rejuvenating presence—an infinite, energetic, prodigiously creative "field" that encompasses and pervades the phenomenal world of objects and events. Drawing from shamanic and yogic traditions, Buddhist and Taoist wisdom, and findings from the new physics, Practicing Presence instructs the student in the meditative art of "living large" through a subtle but profound shift in awareness that allows the local self to spontaneously resolve problems, transcend the world of separateness and strife, and move through adversity rather than struggling against it.

Some of the topics covered in this LifeStudy are:

  • the One and the Many
  • beyond the willful-mind
  • the wisdom of nonresistance
  • stillness and Practicing Presence
  • the expansive horizon of awareness
  • where in the world am I?
  • suchness: living large
  • expansion of identity and the boundless present
  • "thou art That"
  • subjectivity objectified
  • entanglement and nonlocality
PhilosophyCenter | Benefits   Practicing Presence offers numerous life-transforming benefits including:

  • release from the constrictions, contradictions, and tyranny of the will
  • vastly greater efficiency in solving problems and realizing goals and dreams
  • freedom from the "reverse effects" of living willfully
  • enhanced peace of mind and creativity
  • increased wonder, gratitude, and joy in being alive
  • the return of the curiosity and spontaneity native to childhood
  • openness to nonlocal inspiration and awareness
  • decreased susceptibility to fear, anxiety, worry, conflict, and struggle
  • enhanced personal and professional relationships
  • greater purpose and clarity in life direction
PhilosophyCenter | Terms of Study

Enrollment Period
The enrollment period is four weeks starting with the first class.

Those who enroll in this study offering must confirm proposed scheduling within 48 hours of enrolling, or we may cancel the enrollment and issue a refund per our stated policy. (See our Policies for complete details.) Scheduling is not considered complete until it is confirmed by PhilosophyCenter. Note that classes cannot be scheduled prior to online enrollment.

Phoning In
The student should ring the PhilosophyCenter Direct Access Line each week promptly at the scheduled time and arrange to be in a place where ambient noise and interruptions can be kept at a minimum for the duration of the call. Note that the instructor will wait ten minutes for the student to arrive on the call, failing which class for that day will be cancelled and counted as missed without notice.

Cancelled or Missed Scheduled Calls
If the client needs to cancel a scheduled class in a given week, at least 24 hours notice is required. In cases where such notice is provided, the cancelled class will be added to the end of the schedule. Note that this is permitted only once per enrollment period. If the client fails to show up for a scheduled class without notice for any reason or cancels with notice more than once, the missed class cannot be made up and is forfeited. Forfeited classes shall not be construed as a failure by PhilosophyCenter to provide services.

Termination of Services
The client may terminate services at any time during the enrollment period with seven days' written notice. There is no prorated refund for classes remaining subsequent to the date of termination.

Limited Use
The PhilosophyCenter Direct Access Line number provided at the time of enrollment may be used only to initiate calls during the enrollment period and may not be shared with any third party.
